Fair Strategy
How to use your art book before, during, and after an art fair.
An art book should not sit in a box under your booth table. If you create one, use it with purpose.
At an art fair, visitors are moving quickly. They are seeing many booths, many artists, and many styles of artwork. A professional book gives people a reason to slow down, look closer, and understand your work beyond the pieces hanging on the wall.
Before the Fair
Use your book before the fair opens.
Mention it in your pre-show email. Invite collectors to visit your booth and see the new book in person. You can also use a digital version to introduce your newest collection, share your story, or create interest before the event begins.
During the Fair
Place one copy of the book where people can see it.
Do not hide it. Keep it open on a clean table, pedestal, or consultation area. Use it when speaking with serious collectors, designers, galleries, or art consultants.
A book can show work that is not on the wall. It can also show your process, past exhibitions, studio images, and the larger direction of your career.
After the Fair
The real value of an art book often happens after the show.
Use it in your follow-up emails. Mention the book when reconnecting with collectors. Offer signed copies to important buyers when appropriate.
My Advice
Your booth creates attention. Your book deepens the conversation. Your follow-up keeps the relationship alive.
A good art book should help collectors remember you long after the fair is over.
